NaNoWriMo Update

We’re 10 days into NaNoWriMo 2021, and progress on my collection of high fantasy short stories has stalled. Why? I started having second thoughts about the third book in my main series. Yes, I have drafted it – completely. But I’m starting to think that this rushes the character development a bit more quickly than I would like. So, I started working on an outline for a book that will take place between Carmilla’s Ghost and Crossroad Blues.

The working title is Stone Cold. And it’s going to be set completely in Butcher’s Bend. This will be a local case, this will be more of a mystery, and it will be dark. That’s all I have to say about the plot, setting, and tone right now. I’m also only halfway through with the outline.

What will this do for my timeline? Well, if I can’t make progress on this by the end of January, I will push forward with Crossroad Blues. But I should be able to draft most of this over semester break.
